Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: September 11, 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") defines the rules and restrictions for using rewriteai's services. By using our platform, you agree to comply with this policy. Violations may result in suspension or termination of your account.

1. Prohibited Content — Six Categories

You may not use rewriteai to create, process, or distribute content that falls into any of the following six prohibited categories:

1.1 Illegal & Harmful Activity

Content that violates any applicable local, state, national, or international law or regulation, or that promotes or facilitates illegal activities, including fraud, phishing, scams, malware distribution, or violence.

1.2 Hate Speech & Discrimination

Content containing hate speech, discrimination, or harassment based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, age, or any other protected characteristic.

1.3 Sexually Explicit & Exploitation

Content that is obscene, pornographic, or sexually explicit. Zero tolerance for any content depicting, sexualizing, or exploiting minors (children under 18). This will result in immediate account termination and legal referral to law enforcement.

1.4 Defamation & Falsehoods

Defamatory, libelous, or knowingly false content. Content that misrepresents AI-generated output as human-created professional work (e.g., passing off AI writing as work of a licensed professional).

1.5 Intellectual Property & Privacy Violations

Content that infringes any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, or other intellectual property rights. Content that violates the privacy or publicity rights of any third party.

1.6 Deepfakes & Non-Consensual AI Imagery

Content that uses AI to generate, manipulate, or synthesize images, audio, or video of real individuals — including deepfakes — without their explicit, informed consent. This includes impersonating public figures or creating misleading synthetic media.

2. Content Moderation

We employ a combination of automated and human review to enforce this AUP:

  • Automated detection: Machine learning models scan inputs and outputs for prohibited content patterns, CSAM hashes, and known harmful indicators in real time. We use OpenAI Moderation API for content safety screening.
  • Human review: Flagged content is reviewed by trained human moderators. Content involving potential CSAM, imminent violence threats, or deepfakes of private individuals receives priority human review.
  • User reports: Community reports (see Section 6) trigger human review within the response timeframes below.
  • AI model disclosure: Outputs from rewriteai are AI-generated. Where required by applicable law or platform policy, AI-generated content is labeled as such.

3. Prohibited Behaviors

Repeated or severe violations may result in immediate and permanent termination without prior notice. We take a zero-tolerance approach to CSAM and content depicting the sexualization of minors.

6. Reporting Violations

If you believe someone is violating this AUP, please report it through one of the following channels:

All reports are treated confidentially. We investigate all submissions and will contact you within the response timeframes in Section 5. For urgent cases involving potential harm to minors or imminent safety risks, please also contact local law enforcement directly. We cooperate fully with all lawful investigations.

7. Appeal Mechanism

If you believe an enforcement action was taken in error, you may submit an appeal:

  • Send your appeal to appeal@rewriteai.tech with subject line "AUP Appeal"
  • Include your account email, the enforcement action taken, and a detailed explanation of why you believe it was incorrect
  • We will have an independent reviewer (not involved in the original decision) respond within 10 business days
  • Appeals of L1/L2 actions do not automatically restore access during review, but new information may result in reinstatement if the violation is not substantiated
